Mornington Island is part of the Wellesley Islands in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The amazing outflowing of art and dance from these islands over the past 40 years has led to the development of one the most dynamic and successful arts organisations in Queensland: Mirndiyan Gununa. We were honoured to be chosen to visit to island, meet the elders and help develop the organisation's new identity (see photos).
