Since 2000, our diverse range of clients have appreciated our uncomplicated and honest approach to design. We have decades of experience – in Australia and overseas – managing large teams and overseeing and implementing complex brand projects. We now aim to keep things simple and deliver a very personal service without intermediaries. Essentially, clients deal with us direct, the thinkers and the doers.

Our wide-ranging backgrounds mean we are aptly qualified to provide advice on a range of disciplines including strategy, branding, design and advertising. When necessary, we collaborate with our network of independent affiliates (world class photographers, cinematographers, printers, interior designers, industrial designers, illustrators, type designers, animators and programmers) to ensure the best possible outcome.


1. Research
Understanding your organisation, your stakeholders and the market in which you operate is the starting point to creating a memorable brand. We listen, ask questions and conduct research and audits on your behalf. If you have existing research available then we can add value by identifying potential opportunities. If your project is small and your budget is limited we only ask that you fill out a creative brief with us.

2. Strategy
Every great brand has evolved from a clearly defined strategy. We help clarify your organisation’s vision, values, attributes, personality and competitive advantage. We then develop a strategic platform to differentiate your organisation from the competition. Again, if you have a small, one-off project that does not require a brand strategy then we have a simple, one page creative brief that we can fill out together.

3. Design
Once we’ve done the research, clarified the strategy and developed a brief, the creative process begins. From one-off applications, like a logo or website, to entire brand identity systems. We have decades of experience in creating unique and memorable brand experiences including advertising campaigns, books, magazines, packaging, signage, apps, videos, uniforms, clothing, stationery and more.
4. Production
A well crafted brand experience relies on a meticulous production process. We handle the nuts and bolts of getting things made, from the production of high-end fully responsive HTML5 WordPress e-commerce websites to the printing of luxurious 300+ page coffee table books. Our attention to detail and getting it right the first time is meticulous and conscientious.

5. Management
With decades of experience in commerce, branding, communication design, public relations, events and production we provide a holistic approach to brand management. Patrick Curda
Owner & Director
Patrick began his career in the creative industry moonlighting as a marketing assistant and desktop publisher for two community newspapers while completing his final year at university. He holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and a Diploma from the International Advertising Association, New York.

After graduating in 1993 he embarked on his second education – working within a number of leading creative agencies including Designworks NZ, Dashwood Design, Voice Brand Agency, Miller Hare, Billy Blue Design and Writing, Sophie Bartho and Associates and finally The Branding House as creative director for corporate brands. Patrick joined Coast as co-director in 2003. With the retirement of his long-time business partner Jonathan Nolan in early 2019, Patrick is now the owner and director of Coast.

Throughout his 25 years in the industry Patrick has been involved in a wide variety of branding projects including: Westpac, Lend Lease, St George Bank, Perpetual Trust, AMP, TAB, Wellington Airport, Vodafone, Australand, Football Federation of Australia, Telstra Wholesale, Macquarie Telecom, Australian Rugby Union, Surf Life Saving Australia, New Zealand Tourism Board and Tourism Australia. He has also lectured at the University of Western Sydney, Karl Von Busse Institute of Design and Billy Blue College of Design.

His other passions include music foundationrecordings.com.au, working on (and flogging) his 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV coupé, scuba diving off the tip of North Bondi and swimming laps in one of the many glorious outdoors pools in Sydney. He is currently working towards an exhibition of his own artwork.
